I haven’t seen much publicity so here is a letter about Stagecoach’s change to withdraw the 54 bus and slightly reroute the 55. At the bus station last Friday they said the new timetable would be available at the beginning of this week. The new service won’t go round Maple Drive or New Road so residents around those areas will have much further to walk.

Hi There
Iam writing to about the 54 being withdrawn. My mum who is 74 lives in W Bassett and has just called me about it.
Is anything going to be done?.My poor mum and many like her who do not live near the High Street or Mapel Drive are now going to be without transport. She cannot walk that far,It was her only means of transport to the shops etc ,I live in the Netherlands and feel so upset for her and I cant do anything except write to as many people as I can on her behalf to see if a community bus maybe the thing. But with all the cuts going on in the UK it seems the vunerable suffer most.If anything is done I would be really glad if you could contact me so I can contact mum.She is not on the internet
Many Thanks

There is a motion from Cllr Chris Wannell at this Thursdays Council meeting calling for Stagecoach to reconsider routing the 55 bus round Maple Drive. Sandra I suggest emailing all Town Councillors. Their email addresses are on the Wootton Bassett Town Council web-site, as is the agenda for the meeting.
It does highlight the need for a “Link” scheme which has been proposed which would coordinate volunteer drivers to give lifts to shopping, doctors etc.
